Mavis G. Rowe is a native of Portsmouth, VA. Her personal motto is “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”-Maya Angelou. Mavis is a licensed clinical social worker who currently works with the geriatric community and has over twelve years of experience in mental health. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Norfolk State University and has obtained a second master’s in divinity at The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University. She's passionate about empowering women to excel beyond the social and political constraints that bind them.
Mavis is a proud wife and mother of 6 adult children. She is a member of The Mount at Chesapeake and is involved with the counseling ministry. She is also a new author and her first book, a collaboration with 11 women of faith, “Removing the Fear: A Truth Journey from Fear to Freedom” is available now. Her first solo writing, “They're Gone. Now What?: A Grief Journey from Self-Torment to Soul-Transformation” was released on August 1, 2022.
